A young Gujarat woman has accused her NRI husband and in-laws of harassing her for dowry.

A 22-year-old woman from Borsad town of of Anand district has accused her NRI husband and in-laws of harassing her for dowry.  The woman Maitri Rabari has filed a complaint with the police alleging her NRI husband Nitin and his family sought Rs. 2.5 million from her to start hotel business in the US. When the wife did not provide the dowry, she was sent back to India.

 

The complainant Maitri said her in-laws had already taken Rs. 1 million and 31 tolas gold in dowry when they were married in January, 2016. Nitin and his family live in Boone.

Ms. Maitri also said her in-laws threatened to kill her if she did not pay them the money.
