Border Security Force celebrated Independence Day. No exchange of sweets, like every year, took place this time.

The Border Security Force celebrated 69th Independence Day at the Atari-Wagah joint check post. Exchange of sweets that takes place every year on this day, was not followed this time.
BSF DIG Mohd MF Farooqi was a part of the 69th Independence Day event at Attari where the Indian flag was hoisted.
Ceremonies were performed by the BSF at different border out posts along Punjab's 553 km long International border with Pakistan.
BSF IG, Anil Paliwal had announced earlier that the BSF officials will neither offer nor accept sweets from its counterpart this year.
This announcement was made because of the two recent terror attacks in Gurdaspur, Punjab and Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the past practices, both the countries (India and Pakistan) used to accept and give away sweets to each other on their respective days of attaining Independence.
