Emraan Hashmi has been the talk of the town for portraying as the former cricketer and former Indian captain, Azharudin in his next biopic movie based on the life of the controversial cricketer. A far cry from his usual romantic roles the movie is one of the highly anticipated movie of this year.
To give an inside glimpse Emraan posted his look on twitter for the first time and indeed the look is well suiting him and resembles Azhar from his early days of the cricket.
“The reinvention of Emraan Hashmi!” he tweeted along with the first look.
“Emraan specially shot for this photo, which is inspired by Azhar's early days, when he made his debut as a Test cricketer in the '80s. He wants to show this picture to the cricketer to thank him for all the help and support he has provided him, and for all that the actor has learnt from him", a close aide informed the media.
Azhar (2016) is an upcoming Indian biographical sports film directed by Tony D'Souza. Azharuddin was accused of match-fixing but has a clean chit from A Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, which in November 2012 set aside a previous lifetime ban. This movie is also supposed to re-launch Emraan Hashmi as a credible actor and he himself is leaving no stone unturned to give his best performance.
As early as June 2013, producer Ekta Kapoor had spoken of her plans and signed a contract with cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin to make this biopic. At that time actors Saif Ali Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh were on her wish list. The first schedule of the film was completed in October 2015 in London and the second schedule also completed in Hyderabad.
The movie will hit the theatres on May 13 this year. The film also stars Nargis Fakhri, Lara Dutta and Prachi Desai in the lead roles.
