After lifting the Asia Cup in Bangladesh, Indian team has its eyes set on winning the world T20 cup. The tournament is being held in India from 8 March to 3 April 2016. It is the sixth edition of the ICC World Twenty20 and is being hosted by India for the first time. There are sixteen teams playing for the cup. Indian fans are in for an exclusive delight as all the matches will be played across India only.
The Seven cities across India hosting the matches include Bangalore, Dharamsala, Kolkata, Mohali, Mumbai, Nagpur, and New Delhi.
The final will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on 3rd of April. The schedule for the entire tournament is available at the following link - http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-series/2263/icc-world-t20-2016/matches
This is one format where there cannot be any clear-cut winners. India, Australia, South Africa and England seem to be the favorites of many to make the semi-finals based on recent and current form. The other three can contest the prophecy, just as former champions West Indies and reigning champions Sri Lanka, might seriously contest its Group prophesies. Some also feel England, New Zealand or Pakistan will complete the semi-final line-up as they see the aggressive approach of their players. One thing with tournament play like a World Cup is, you've got to be peaking at the right end of the competition and the team which will do it with perfection will have the best chances.
Tickets for seven "highly sought after" matches - four India games, the semi-finals and the final – are to be sold online through a lottery system, where buyers are required to indicate their preferred match after registering themselves. They will then be moved to a draw where the winners will be chosen through an automated process following which they will receive a payment link to complete the booking.
Even though they are placed in a tough group, the host India is expected to make the semifinals given the stupendous form. For India, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli should give the Indians the runs and Nehra, Jaspreet Bhumra, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja should be handful for the batsmen. Pandya has turned out to be a major investment.
Pakistan board was initially reluctant on sending the team to play in the tournament as they were worried about the security of the players; they have also sent a delegation to assess the security arrangements ahead of the tournament. After repeated requests the venue of the match between India and Pakistan was moved from Dharamsala to Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
