India tamed Bangladesh to win the 2016 Asia Cup. With this victory, India lifted their SIXTH Asia Cup title.

India defeated Bangladesh to win the 2016 Asia Cup by eight wickets comfortably at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur, Bangladesh, played on 6 March, 2016. Bangladesh fought hard in phases but a victory with six balls to spare and eight wickets in hand was a pretty emphatic one in the end. The hosts posted a total of 120 runs off 15 overs after the match was reduced by five over’s due to bad weather.

This was the first time the Asia Cup was held in T20 format and India proved yet again why they are No.1 side in T20 Internationals.

From Indian side Bumrah and Ashwin were the stars with the ball, before Dhawan and Kohli sealed the chase with that partnership. After Dhawan got out, M.S. Dhoni, the Indian ODI and T20 captain, promoted himself up the order and finished the match in grand style. M.S. Dhoni scored 20 off just 6 balls with 1 four and two huge sixes. Interestingly, Dhoni had played only nine balls in the tournament.

Shikhar Dhawan was named the Man of the Match for his knock of 60 off 44 balls.

This win is India's seventh on the trot and 10th out of the last 11 T20I they have played. In the Asia Cup, the team didn't taste defeat and won all their five matches in the competition.

The fever transcended to the social media as well. Congratulating the emphatic victory the mega star Amitabh Bachchan tweeted – “INDIA wins ASIA Cup T20 against BanglaDesh in typical Dhoni style with a massive 6!! Congratulations team...well fought BanglaD”.

Importantly, there was some tension especially in the social media with the Bangladeshi cricket fans going overboard with their celebrations of reaching the final of Asia Cup as one of them has morphed a picture of its pacer Taskin Ahmed holding a chopped head of Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni while sounding a war cry!!!

This was not the first time a Bangladesh fan has targeted India on social media. Earlier in 2015 when India struggled to cope with pacer Mustafizur Rahman, a Bangladesh newspaper had published a picture of half-shaved heads of the Indian players, in order to show the after-effects of Mustafizur's 'cutters'. Reacting to this one of the Indian fan posted on the social media. Reciprocating with strong sentiments, one the Indian fans posted – “A whole generation of Bangladesh will remember this defeat from DHONI”.
