The two Indo-Canadians, who were recently trailed with first-degree murder and manslaughter in British Columbia, Canada.

The two Indo-Canadians, who were recently trialed with first-degree murder and manslaughter - Gurjinder “Gary” Dhaliwal was charged with first degree murder of teen Maple Batalia, and co-accused Gursimar Singh Bedi was charged with manslaughter with a firearm and for being an accessory after the fact. The accused was the ex-boyfriend of Simon Fraser University (SFU) student and model Maple Batalia. The trial of the accused happened in the British Columbia Supreme Court in New Westminster city in the Canadian province of British Columbia.

Dhaliwal’s co-accused Gursimar Singh Bedi has been charged with manslaughter using a firearm and accessory after the fact in the case.

In memery of their slain daughter, the Batalia's family raised over $50,000 for a bursary in her name, to benefit female students enrolled in Simon Fraser University's health sciences programme. Ms. Batalia, 19 at the time, was fatally shot at the Surrey SFU campus in September 2011.   

Both accused were charged in late 2012.
