Indian appointed to key position at World Bank

Mr.  Saroj Kumar Jha has been appointed to a key position in the World Bank with President Jim Young Kim assigning him a role to provide strategic leadership to address the challenge of fragility, conflict and violence working across the Bank Group and in close collaboration with partners.

Mr.  Saroj Jha joined the World Bank in 2005 after significant experience with the Indian Government and with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) as a senior executive of public and resources sector management.  

At the World Bank he also worked as Global Manager for Disaster Risk Management, and served as head of Disaster Reduction and Recovery. In addition, he has led international response efforts to many global catastrophic disasters. Mr Jha is an alumnus of the prestigious Indian institute IIT-Kanpur and till last week he was the World Bank regional Director for Central Asia based in Almaty.
