Born to a Punjabi father and a German mother, 28-year old, German beauty, Evelyn Sharma grew up watching Hindi films dubbed in German. She studied drama and theatre in high school and first faced the camera when she was 18.
“My mum enjoyed Hindi films and these were the reason for my love for Bollywood,” she says, adding “Katrina Kaif, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sunny Leone and Nargis Fakhri, myself have found a place in Bollywood because of our Indian connect rather than the fact that we have grown up abroad”. Donning bikini for the song “Sunny Sunny” or portraying the sexy character of Lara in “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” has been easy for her however she calls herself a simple girl.
Evelyn, who is famous for her glamorous avatars in her earlier films, now wants to impress the audience with her acting skills. She is reportedly turning down offers of item numbers and glamorous roles as she wants to do consolidate her position by doing performance-oriented films and roles in Bollywood. "I have been getting offers of sexy roles and item numbers, but now I want to explore my acting and do characters which require me to perform”, says the Indian-origin actress.
To strengthen her space in Bollywood has even taken Hindi lessons which she explains was not easy for her as she was learning a completely different language. She gives the credit to her Hindi language coach for been able to dub her very first movie in her own voice.
Meanwhile, Evelyn is also excited about her international singing début. Following the footsteps of the Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra, who has released three singles, Evelyn has recorded an international number in collaboration with an Indo-American rapper Brooklyn Shanti.
