On January 23rd, this year when the Indian government declassified 100 files related to the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, two days later his grand nephew, Chandra Kumar Bose joined the right-wing Indian political party, and also the ruling party - the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in presence of its party president Amit Shah in Kolkata.
“You see what I like about Mr Narendra Modi's attitude, was, he said that we must do this jointly. I have not seen the files personally, but it is a national demand, people are raising it. I clearly told him that this is not a family issue at all. Some members of the family might have initiated the move but I think the people of India would demand, to know, what happened to Subhash Bose after 18th August 1945, they would like to know…The country is waiting to see how the NDA Government will transform a government of suppression and deceit" to a government of transparency and openness, we welcome this step by the Prime Minister wholeheartedly. This is a day of transparency in India," Chandra Kumar Bose had said heaping praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the NDA government.
Lauding the political party Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's grandson Chandra Kumar Bose said that BJP is the only party whose ideology is similar to what the great freedom fighter had believed in. “Joining a political party is a personal matter but I feel your principle and ideology matter. The BJP believes in the ideology of Subhas Chandra Bose,” he added further.
Asked if the BJP was looking to him as a winning card in the upcoming state elections, Bose said his job is to “bring back inclusivity”. “Netaji’s ideal wish was that India should be inclusive where there is unity among all religions. It must be made a reality,” he said.
The political party BJP is also expected to benefit and focus on building up the party organization and leadership in the state politics of West Bengal, where till now it has just marginal presence.
Accusing the Congress party trying to erase Netaji’s ideals, the grand nephew had also stated, "We feel that certain very important files were destroyed during the Congress regime in order to hide the truth. We have documentary evidence to understand this. So, we feel the Indian government should take steps to ensure the release of files lying in Russia, Germany, UK and USA".
