In a first-of-its-kind, the renowned playback singer, Sonu Nigam in collaboration with the Yash Raj films, has launched India’s first transgender band called ‘6-pack Band’. He also sang for one of the songs of the group.
Sonu said he had a great experience singing with the band, something he wanted to do from a long time. “I felt very happy singing with them. They were singing my songs all the time. I really enjoyed their innocence and child-like energy”, said the singer while launching the band.
The Y-Films, YashRaj Film’s youth films wing has launched this band in collaboration with the Brooke Bond Red Label. It consists of six transgender brought together from India’s ‘Hijra’ community. They will be releasing six songs along with music videos for the same. Their debut single is ‘Hum Happy Hain’ which is a cover version of Pharrell Williams’ song ‘Happy’.
“We truly believe that in spite of all our differences, we all dance to the same beat irrespective of caste, creed, religion, economic status and gender. It is music that brings us all together”, said Ashish Patel, the head of Y-films.
