Mitesh Patel, 33, who moved from Gujarat’s Umreth town of Anand district, to the US in 2002, was shot dead after being robbed of cash in Los Angeles.
He was about to step out of his liquor store when he was attacked by unidentified assailants who shot him dead after robbing cash. Mitesh’s brother-in-law was in the wash-room when the incident took place. He said Mitesh had even handed over the cash to the assailants who shot him.
His death has left his family in Umreth mourning. Mitesh’s family in India said that were informed of the murder by their relatives in the US. He is survived by his wife Bhumika and a 7-year-old daughter Vriksha.
The NRI death has added to the spate of attacks on the Diaspora.
