Indian-origin psychiatrist Narendra Nagareddy, dubbed as "Dr Death" by police, has been arrested in the US after 36 of his patients died with at least 12 killed by overdose on prescription medication.
Nagareddy, a therapist in Clayton County, Georgia, has been put in prison on suspicion of over- prescribing prescription medication and running a 'pill mill’. According to the Clayton County Police Chief Mike, "He's a therapist in Jonesboro who has been over-endorsing sedatives and benzodiazepine and the most recent quite a long while has had a huge number of overdoses and overdose passings”. As per the legal documents 36 patients died while being prescribed controlled substances, out of which 12 have been confirmed by investigators, through autopsy reports, to have been the result of prescription drug intoxication.
The district attorney’s office also informed of filing a civil action to seize Nagareddy’s assets.
