Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone stole the limelight at the Filmfare Awards 2016, recently held at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium in Mumbai.

Filmfare awards, one of the most esteemed awards of the Indian film industry were held on January 15, 2016 at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium in Mumbai.

While, Sanjay Leela Bahansali's 'Bajirao Mastani' won nine awards including the Best Film and the Best Director Awards, Shoojit Sircar’s 'Piku' nailed five awards. Bahansali was adjudged the Best Director after 9 long years! The Best Actress kudos was won by Deepika Padukone for her inimitable performance in 'Piku' and her rumoured beau Ranveer Singh was honoured with the Best Actor award for his famous role play of Bajirao in 'Bajirao Mastani'. While Bajirao and Mastani were the highlight of the evening, their "partner-in-crime" Kashibai also emerged victorious, winning the best actor in a supporting role award. 

The veteran actress Moushumi Chaterjee, who was last seen in 'Piku', was glorified with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt aped Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke leaving the audience in splits.  Salman Khan, who interestingly has not won a single filmfare award till date, entertained his fan at the ceremony. Even this year, he missed the Best Actor award for his blockbuster Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Popular comedian actor Kapil Sharma also co-hosted the show.
