Yamuna expressway crash kills five members of an Australian NRI family on Sunday afternoon. The accident happened due to a car tyre burst.

In a harrowing road accident, five members of a Non-Resident Indian (NRI), including two girls, were killed when their speeding SUV car met with an accident in Surir area on Yamuna Expressway, near Agra on Sunday (10th January, 2016). 

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Janak Singh informed that the Australian  NRI Rupendra Dutta, who owns a restaurant in Adelaide, in Australia, was going to see Taj Mahal, in Agra along with his family when the tyre of their car burst at around 3:30 pm.

"The deceased have been identified as Anamika (45) wife of one Rupendra Dutta, her daughters -- Pipasa (15) and Neetika (12), son Tirvijai (20) and her sister-in-law Sonia (25)… the impact of the burst was so intense that the bodies were lying in a pool of blood nearly 5-7 metres from the mangled car", police said.

NRI Rupendra Dutta, his father-in-law Mr. NK Paliwal and the driver Shambhu have survived and are presently undergoing treatment in a nearby hospital.
