A 62 year old NRI woman who was also handicapped has complained of theft at the IGI airport.

Mrs. Amajit Kaur Bhan Singh, a handicapped NRI lady and was travelling in a wheelchair to India from Malaysia lodged a complaint of missing of around $1000 (over Rs. 73,000) and few blank cheques of Royal Bank of Canada at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport, in the capital city, New Delhi.

As she landed at the IGI airport, and was waiting at the baggage carousel, she was also accompanied by her 71 year old husband Mr. Uttam Singh Dhaliwal. While giving $400 to her husband for duty free shopping, she could notice the missing things from her handbag.

The Singh couple suspects the man who assisted them with the wheelchair could have taken the money and the blank cheques. They have lodged a complaint with the Delhi Police. “Involvement of the airport and airline staff cannot be ruled out. Efforts are on to trace the culprit”, quoted the senior police official.
