Ms. Urvashi Rautela, who represented India in Miss Universe contest held at Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas could not make it the top 15. Ms. Rautela had been earlier named among the top 10 contestants to look out for at the Miss Universe 2015 grand finale.
Ms. Rautela, who recently created history by winning the Miss Universe India title twice, was competing with 80 other contestants at the global platform of Miss Universe 2015. She was crowned Miss Universe India in 2012, but was later disqualified over a controversy on her age.
She described herself as the 'youngest Indian Bollywood actress to win maximum number of beauty titles in entire pageant history ever' on Instagram. In 2009, at the age of 15, she clinched the Miss Teen India crown. Two years later, she won two titles - Miss Asian Supermodel.
She was first seen in the “Love dose” video of YoYo Honey Singh and later acted in a movie with Sunny Deol. She has now slowly established herself as a Bollywood actress.
Earlier, Ms. Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach of the Philippines was announced as the Miss Universe 2015, after a blooper by the event host. Blooper at the Miss Universe beauty pageant saw Miss Colombia crowned instead of Miss Philippines. The host incorrectly announced Miss Colombia, Ms. Ariadna Guiterrezas, the winner first and later was apologized for the mistake. There were as many as 80 contestants vying for the coveted Miss Universe title.
It has been 15 years since an Indian clenched the coveted Miss Universe title. Ms. Lara Dutta was the last Indian to win the title in the year 2000.
