After successfully running for three years, Kapil Sharma and his team have probably decided to wind up the popular show, "Comedy Nights With Kapil" (CNWK). The last episode of the show will reportedly be aired on 17th January 2016.
The show was immensely popular with the Indian audience since its launch but was losing the shine slowly as new show ‘Comedy Nights Bachao’ with the same celebrity format has been launched by the channel. The stand-up comedian-cum-actor, Kapil himself revealed that the reason behind ending the show is the reported differences with the channel – the Colors TV, as they were putting the similar content in another comedy show.
According to the popular actor, the channel has been favouring "Comedy Nights Bachao" more and the actor was not happy with the contents being repeated in the two shows. The entire team was also reportedly unhappy with the channel promoting a new show, on a copied format, more aggressively as compared to the original show.
Kapil said, “We have been successfully entertaining the audience for the past three years with our content. But when our show became a habit for the viewers, they introduced another one on similar lines. Celebrities who readily agreed to come on our show were told that they will have to make an appearance on the other show as well. I understand the pressure on the channel to work towards making their shows a hit, but not at the cost of sabotaging an established one”.
Kapil also added that he does not want to become a part of the “crowd and channel should not have launched two similar shows with same content”.
In recent times, "Comedy Nights with Kapil" has been among the most popular TV shows, generating huge TRP for the channel. With the host of talented actors playing different lively characters, CNWK went on to score and rule the TV popularity charts. It is indeed sad news for the show lovers.
