Padma Shri awardee, Indian-American appointed to key University position in Texas, the US

Padma Shri awardee Indian-American Ashok Kumar Mago has been appointed as a member of Board of Regents of the University of North Texas in the US.

In a statement issued by governor`s office Mr. Mago was appointed by the Texas Governor Greg Abbott for a full six-year term.

Ashok Kumar Mago is an Indian born American business person and the founder Chairman of Greater Dallas Indo American Chamber, also now known as (US-INDIA Chamber of Commerce). 

Mr. Mago received a bachelor’s degree from Delhi University, India, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas. He migrated to the US in 1974, and started with a consulting firm Mago associates in 1991. He is also known for his contribution in the inception of the Senate India Caucus, which played a crucial part in the passing of the Indo-US civil nuclear bill.

He was awarded Padma Shree, the fourth highest civilian award, by the Government, in 2014, especially for his services to the trade and industry.
