UK-based NRI doctor climbed Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro to thank the hospital staff for the care they provided to one of his friends, a patient.

Ash Patel, a UK-based NRI Doctor working in Longton Health Centre (LHC) in Lancashire, UK has recently climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain of Africa, to gather finances for the Royal Stoke University Hospital. The UK-based NRI doctor climbed Africa’s highest mountain to thank the hospital staff for the care they provided to one of his friends, a patient. Dr Patel said the trek-up the mountain was a challenge but worth the effort as the hospital did an ‘excellent’ job.

Mahesh Patel, 54 who was Ash’s long-time friend, was admitted to this hospital but he could not survive, despite the best efforts put by the hospital staff. Sadly his friend Mahesh expired the day before he returned.

Mr. Patel was successful in collecting GBP 1,001 fund for the hospital. The fund will be primarily used in developing the intensive care unit (ICU), where his friend received treatment following his transfer from Accident & Emergency Department (A&E) in September this year.
