India continues to shine in the global horizon. As per a report on world's most valuable nation brands by global consultants Brand Finance, India has moved up a position ahead making itself the seventh most valued ‘nation brand’. This has happened after 32% increase in its brand value to $2.1 billion.
India is preceded by the US, China, Germany, UK, Japan and France. India replaced France at the current position, in the present survey. In the last survey, India was seated at 8th position.
India is sole among the BRICS nations to have witnessed an increase in its brand value, with the others— Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa—seeing a drop in their respective brand valuations. However, the first five countries have continued to rule the list in the similar manner, as the previous year. It needs special mention that India’s surge of increased brand value by 32% is highest among all the 20 countries included in the list which in itself is an accomplishment.
The nation brand valuation is based on five-year sales forecasts of all brands in each nation. The country's gross domestic product (GDP) is used as a proxy for total revenues.
