There is no stopping for Indian women, not even in faraway foreign lands. The first Asian to be appointed as the judge of UK High Court is of Indian origin, as Bobbie Cheema- Grubb, 49, is all set to join Queen's Bench division this November. Hailed as a rising star and a role model for the new breed of barristers by the legal bodies in the UK, the lady barrister is a highly regarded senior treasury counsel.
Bobbie Cheema had joined the bar back in 1989 and in 2013; she was appointed counsel for the Queen of England. Apart from her academic accolades, she is known for her dedication, hard work and a tactical and logical sense, a talent quite crucial for her profession. Chambers UK has already accoladed her as “a wonderful performer” and as “a first-class advocate with first-class drafting skills” in recent years. The Legal 500 has hailed her as an “excellent role model for the new breed of barristers who need to be team players”.
