Punjabi Singer found dead at his residence, under mysterious circumstances

Under mysterious circumstances, LabhJajua, famous Punjabi singer was found dead at his residence in Goregaon, Mumbai on Thursday, 22nd October.  According to the police sources Janjua had been alone in his house as his wife and daughter had gone to Punjab. In the morning when his domestic maid knocked repeatedly his flat’s door received no response, she doubted that something wrong might have happened and she immediately informed the building chairman and the neighbours.  When the door was broken down, the singer was found lying on his bed. He was immediately taken to the Mumbai’s Cooper Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

DCP Dhananjay Kulkarni, Mumbai Police spokesperson and DCP stated that Janjua reportedly called his wife on the previous night and told her that he was not feeling well, his wife then called their family friend who took Janjua to a doctor and then dropped him back to his house; it may be possible that his health must have deteriorated during the night.

A case of an accidental death has been registered. There were no external injuries found on Janjua’s body, still the reason of death is unknown. Police refused to comment on whether the death was due to natural causes or a case of suicide and stated nothing can be assumed before the post-mortem report comes.

Known for super hit songs like London Thumakda (Queen) and Pyaar Karke Pachtaya, the Punjabi singer and song-writer, Janjua, 57, made Bollywood singing debut in 2007 with the movie, Dhol. And since then there was no looking back for Janjua. From Mahi Mennu (Dev D) to Dance pe Chance (Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi), Soni De Nakhre (Partner) to Dil Kare Chu Che (Singh is Bliing), several films had chartbusters songs crooned by the Indian bhangra and hip hop singer. He belonged to Khanna, near Ludhiana. He was best known for his Punjabi hit song ‘Mundiyaan Toh Bach Ke’. Several Bollywood artists and singers mourned his death.
