Shital Patel, an Indian origin IT professional has been chosen as the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the USA Funds. The United Student Aid Funds, Inc. or the USA Funds is a non–profit organization, which guarantees education loans for destitute college students in the United States.
Post the appointment, Ms. Patel will be held accountable for all the facets of USA funds’ information technology and service and she will head the exploration of emerging information service opportunities, issues and solutions divisions. Bill Hansen, USA Funds CEO, stated that the new appointee will benefit the organization with her broad leadership experience in both the private sector as well as government sector. "Shital brings to USA Funds extensive leadership experience in both the private sector and government, as well as significant expertise in aligning information technology capabilities with emerging business strategies", the CEO Bill Hansen said.
The USA Funds was founded in 1960 and is based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Over the years, it has linked several private career schools, colleges, universities, private lenders, students, and parents in the US to promote financial access to higher learning. The organization has served over 22 million students and parents with in excess of $250 billion in financial support towards the higher education.
Previously Ms. Patel was handling the enterprise sales for Microsoft in Indianapolis; she has also served as Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the city of Indianapolis and the Managing Director at Unisys Corp. Ms. Patel is a graduate from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business and has served on the board of directors of the Indiana Youth Institute.
