The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has strongly condemned the horrific incident and has demanded a case of attempted murder to be lodged against the culprit.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has strongly condemned the horrific incident, wherein an Indian woman's right hand was chopped-off by her house owner in Saudi Arabia. "Chopping of hand of Indian lady - We are very much disturbed over the brutal manner in which Indian lady has been treated in Saudi Arabia. This is unacceptable. We have taken this up with Saudi authorities", Ms. Sushma Swaraj, the External Minister said in a tweet.

The victim was identified as Kasturi, 58, who had complained to the authorities over the non-payment of her wages. The authorities warned the house owner after which, out of anger and rage, he chopped-off her right hand. The victim has been presently admitted at the Kingdom Hospital in Riyadh.

India has demanded that a case of attempted murder to be lodged against the culprit. Importantly, the deplorable working conditions of the overseas employees in Saudi Arabia has been always a hot topic of intense discussion and such gruesome incidents are just a bleak reminder that these matters require urgent interventions from the Saudi government.
