US NRI arranges robbery at his own gas station

In a bid to attempt robbery in his own gas station, Indian Origin businessman Pareshbhai R. Patel, 40, owning a Shell gas station in Sandwich Town, Massachusetts, US reportedly, asked hired another man to use a toy gun to rob his business in exchange for US $1,500.

Police prevented him from carrying out his robbery-for-hire plot by secretly recording him. Patel is charged with solicitation to commit an armed robbery and committing an aggravated robbery.

According to the court records, Patel admitted to planning the robbery during questioning by police. He was released from DeKalb County Jail for bail set at US $5,000. He is scheduled to appear in court again on October 27th. However, it is yet not clear why Patel hatched the plan for robbery at his own gas station.
