Kapil Sharma, the famous Indian stand-up comedian, also popularly known as the "Comedy King" of India, made his Bollywood debut with the movie, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karu (KKPK) released on 25th September, 2015. The movie is a romantic-comedy directed by Abbas Mustan, featuring Kapil opposite four heroines - Elli Avram, Manjari Phadnis, Simran Kaur Mundi and the debutant Sai Lokur.
The film has reportedly opened well in both metros and smaller centers, with the Day 1 box office collections reaching 50% occupancy rate. It is still too early to predict whether the audience will really be entertained or will they receive a feel of Kapil’s own-famous gesture, the babaji-ka-thullu (a popular phrase, using hand gestures to symbolize a snake sitting with its head up – suggesting getting something too less than expected). Critics have commented the movie to be in the mould of 90's Govinda- David Dhawan’s themed comedy zone, but have not rated the movie highly.
This romantic-comedy features a man (Kapil Sharma as ‘Bholu’) handling three wives and a girl friend simultaneously and promises to be a laugh riot!
Kapil Sharma was ranked in the Forbes India Celebrity list at 33rd position in 2014. Recently, in September 2015, he was invited at the “Rashtrapati Bhavan” by the Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, as an acknowledgment to his contributions towards the Indian Prime Minister Modi’s ambitious social cause campaign, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, aiming to have a cleaner and healthy India.
