Indian Government to host Indian-origin parliamentarians of foreign countries in capital on 9th January, 2018.

The Indian ministry of External Affairs (MEA) will hold a People of Indian Origin (PIO) Parliamentary Conference with the sole aim to strengthen and engage with the Indian Diaspora. This unique conference will be held in New Delhi on 9th January, 2018.

The Parliamentarians and senators, across the globe, of Indian origin are on the invite list. It is being said that there are around 285 parliamentarians of Indian-origin out of which 70 are ministers, speakers and even Prime ministers in their respective countries. However, only 125 of them are expected to come.

The registration fee is highly nominal so as to enhance the participation of folks from all around because more than 4000 delegates are expected to participate.

An official quotes that there are there are an around 31.2 million overseas Indians with 13 million NRIs globally, with over 8.5 million NRIs in Gulf countries, and to accomplish the change of looking after them the government needs to strengthen the Diaspora and the PIO conference will definitely act as a catalyst in achieving the same.
