A prominent announcement has recently arrived from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) for the NRIs, OCIs and PIOs, which states that the Non-resident Indian, Person of Indian-origin and also the overseas citizens of India can find relief from the AADHAAR (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Card hectic procedure. According the announcement, it is said that AADHAAR card, which is considered for the identification should only be sought from those NRIS, OCIs or from PIOs, who require unique identification. This announcement has been made under the AADHAAR Act 2016.
The UIDAI has said that as per the AADHAAR Act, 2016 that states that AADHAAR should be sought from those who are eligible for it, the norm should be implemented as per the Act for all ‘residents’ of the nation living inside the country or abroad. According to the reports, it is said that all the central departments of ministry/ state government and other agencies that would now require implementing this rule will have to keep two things in prominence.
The eligible people will only have to have the AADHAAR card as mentioned under the AADHAAR act 2016. Most of the NRIs, PIOs or the OCIs are not eligible for the unique identification. Henceforth, there is no requirement for all of them to enroll for AADHAAR card.
