Taking a leaf out of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's successful 'Chai pe charcha' campaign (centered on political discussions over a cup of tea), the NRI Biharis or the NRBs, have decided to gather in over 100 American cities, discussing the upcoming Bihar-poll and gorging on the sumptuous Bihari dish, ‘Litti Chokha’. Similarly, they have even termed the discussion as 'Litti-pe-charcha'.
'Chai pe charcha' was hugely successful initiative, concept used by Prime Minister Modi to good effect in 2014 General Elections.
The 'Litti-pe-charcha' discussions are planned on October 10th, with the NRBs voicing their views on the upcoming state elections and discussing the possible impact it will have on the future of the Bihar state. The NRBs will assemble in over 100 American cities.
Through this event, the NRBs aim to garner enough enthusiasm for the upcoming Bihar polls; and also plan to organize various focus groups connecting with the fellow NRBs in several other cities across the world. The event is supported by various Bihar related NGOs such as the Bihar Society, OneBihar, Bihar Advisors and Bihar-Jharkhand Association of North America. As per the preparations, these meets will be recorded and shared on various social media platforms such as Facebook, Google Hangout, WhatsApp and YouTube.
The ‘Litti Chokha’ is a traditional dish eaten mainly in Bihar and Jharkhand. While, the ‘litti’ is mainly prepared from the ingredient Sattu (or dry roasting grains), the other component ‘Chokha’ is prepared with boiled potatoes, brinjal and tomatoes roasting them straight on the flame, and removing them from the burner when their skin turns black and crackle.
