Students are marked on the basis of academic excellence, outstanding community, business or entrepreneurial leadership and financial need.

Five Indo-Canadian high school students have received the prestigious Schulich Leader Scholarships. Manpreet Deol, Nimra Dar, Aishwarya Roshan, Aditya Mohan and Simranjeet Singh were awarded scholarships to enroll in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) undergraduate programmes at the participating universities in Israel and Canada.

The scholarships were given to encourage students to become pioneers in global scientific research and innovation. It is awarded to the most promising students in Canada and Israel.

Students pursuing an engineering degree are awarded scholarships worth $80,000, while the ones studying science, technology and maths are granted scholarships valued at $60,000 each.

Manpreet Deol and Nimra Dar shall utilise their scholarship money to pursue engineering courses and while rest of them will use it to study science courses.

Seymour Schulich, Canadian businessman and philanthropist had set up the Schulich Leader Scholarship in 2012.
