Ace Indian Shooter Jitu Rai, 29, has won the 2016 Champion of Champions pistol Award of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) for pistol shooting. Along with the title, he has won the award consisting cash prize of €5000 in the World Cup Final held in Bologna, Italy. This Nepali Bhasi Indian shooter of Indian Gorkha ethnic group, who is a Naib-Subedar in the 11 Gorkha Rifles in Lucknow, defeated Damir Mikec of Serbia by 29.6 to 28.3 points in the 10 m Air Pistol Champions Trophy final match.

In 2014, at the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Munich, Germany he won the silver medal in the 10 meter air pistol event. Following this, in Maribor, Rai won two medals; silver in the 50 meter pistol event, and gold in the 10 meter air pistol event. In the process, he won three medals in nine days at the World Cup and also became the first person to have won two medals at a single world cup for India.

Government of India has recently announced 'Khel Ratna' Award for him in 2016.
