Shaktiman - the popular show of the nineties is all set to hit small screen again. TV actor and producer Mukesh Khanna, 58, who played Shaktiman confirmed this. Khanna quoted, “The new season will begin from where the previous ended. But it will also show the childhood of Shaktimaan. How he becomes a superhero through intense training from his seven gurus, and the entire process”.
He also added, “I wanted to show the character’s flashback last time, but that would have taken the character of Shaktimaan off-screen for a couple of episodes, which the producers didn’t agree to. But this time we are going to do it. We have some kids in mind (for the role), and a solid idea how to go about the show”.
A close to 60-year old actor has lost a lot of weight to fit in the role of Shaktimaan again. Most of the popular characters of the show, such as Geeta Vishwas, Tamraj Kilvish and Dr Jaikal, are also supposed to join the show. During the first edition, Mukesh Khanna essayed the role of Shaktimaan and his alter ego, Pandit Gangadhar Vidyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastri.
Evidently, Mukesh is in discussions with the Doordarshan channel to air the new season of Shaktimaan. He is trying to get the slot of 6-6.30 pm every day and if he gets the slot he will bring the show on Doordarshan, he is also in talks with other mainstream channels such as Colors, Sony, and others to air the show via satellite so that it will have a bigger reach.
Mukesh feels that nowadays when the youngsters have become more materialistic and this is the best time to come back on the small screen with a popular show like Shaktimaan from which youngsters would be able to learn about honesty and other important concepts of morality.
So, for kids, from the 90s, the return of Shaktimaan is sure to evoke a sense of nostalgia. With his witty one-liners and undeniable charm, Shaktimaan caught the imagination of almost every kid.
