A last minute strike gave India a 5-4 victory in their final game against hosts Bangladesh and helped them lift the U-18 Men's Asia Cup. The victory did not fall easily on India. The game has been thrilling all over taking the expectations of the fans of both sides to higher and higher. The excitement was at its peak for the audience. There has been a nine-goal encounter5 between them. But finally, in the last round, it was Indian team which is crowned with the championship of the U-18 Asian Men’s Hockey Cup.
India has shown its fighting spirit from the very beginning of the match. They fought a lot to keep the ball in their possession in order to penetrate the rival team. In the 6th minute, they won the first penalty corner.
Though India was not willing to slip off their position, Bangladesh was fighting for their counter and when they won the penalty corner from the counter, M Roman Sarkar clearlymakes the goal for the host.
India quickly enough made it equal as Sivam Anand netted the ball perfectly running past two rival defenders with a reverse flick. Bangladesh too gave it back soon. After many fights, the game stood at a thrilling 4-4. But Abhishek came as the savior for the Indian team and stoke the last goal winning the crown for India.
Pankaj Kumar Rajak was announced to the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament and Hardik Singh was the Man of the Match.
