Indian-origin al Qaeda top operative arrested in Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Sabeel Ahmed, allegedly a top terror operative, is arrested in Saudi Arabia. Dr. Ahmed allegedly played a role in recruiting Indian youth for Pakistan -based groups. It mostly includes Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) and the Lashkar e Taiba (let). There is a lookout circular against him and he is also wanted by the NIA in a terror recruitment case.   

Sabeel Ahmed was a former resident in Bangalore. He then shifted to Saudi Arabia. Ahmed's elder brother Kafeel had earlier carried out a suicide attack at UK's Glasgow airport on June 29, 2007, in which he died. Sabeel was arrested in Liverpool on June 30 2007, as he is believed to be associated with terror groups.

Indian authorities are currently verifying the reports and are communicating with the Saudi intelligence. Once Ahmed's identity is confirmed, the Indian government will pursue for his deportation. A non-bail able warrant will be issued against Ahmed. Importantly, Saudi Arabia is also providing support and contribution in deporting several terror suspects to India.
