The Canadian NRI has been charged with conspiracy to possess and distribute 5 kilos or more of cocaine.

A Canadian NRI, Gursharansingh, 33, who hails from Brampton, Ontario, has been charged with drug smuggling. He has been charged with transporting large amounts of cocaine and marijuana across the US and the Canada border, via several international bridges such as the Buffalo-Niagara region.

He is one of six men charged with the smuggling operation – this includes Alvin Randhwa, Harinder Dhaliwal, Ravinder Arora, Michael Bagri, Parminder Sidhu has been charged for this smuggling case related to cocaine. This was the largest cocaine smuggling operation in the US history. He was found to possess and distribute 5 kg or more of cocaine, and it was also estimated that about 2,000 kg of cocaine was smuggled in the last few years. 

He faces a sentence of upto 10 years of imprisonment and a 10 million dollar fine. He is to be sentenced on November 16.
