A mother and daughter were accused of murdering their Burmese maid in Singapore.

A 58-year-old Indian-origin woman and her 36-year-old daughter have been charged with murdering a Burmese maid at their home in Singapore and may face death penalty.

Housewife Prema Naraynasamy and Gaiyathiri Murugayan were arrested for allegedly murdering their Burmese maid 24-year-old Piang Ngaih Don.

Neighbours were shocked to hear of the arrest, describing the family as just like any other. Maids working at the block and residents said they rarely saw Ms Piang, whom they described as short, with short hair, unless she was cleaning the windows or hanging the laundry.

Presently, the  Singapore court has extended the police remand of the accused. Both the accused will be produced in the court. If they are convicted of murder, the duo will face the death penalty.
