There is still no trace of a real estate advisor who allegedly kidnapped and raped the wife of an NRI at gun point in Ludhiana, Punjab. The incident took place in June, and a significant time has elapsed since the crime.
Earlier, it took three days for the Punjab police to book the accused after an inquiry. A complaint has been filed in which a family member alleged that the accused, who was a gym instructor, often misbehaved with her and passed lewd comments. However, the rape crime happened on June 23 when the accused forced the woman, into a vehicle at pistol point, took her to his house and raped her. The police have carried out preliminary investigations and is now gathering evidence including CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts from the site of the kidnapping.
According to the Assistant commissioner of police (ACP) the accused is at large absconding. Police officials said they had raided his house, but it was locked. "We have carried out preliminary investigation and found the statement made by the woman to be authentic. As of now, we are gathering evidences in the case and are looking for CCTV footage or eyewitness account from the place the woman was forced into the vehicle by the accused", said the ACP. Meanwhile, the rape survivor's family said that she is in a state of shock. A family member of the rape survivor said they are following the progress in the case and want speedy action.
A family member said they had lodged a complaint into the matter a few days after the incident but the case was lodged into the matter after an inquiry.
