Sultan, Salman Khan's latest movie, is creating records in several categories with each passing days. The movie has nearly grossed Rs 150 crores in just first four days after its release. Moreover, the movie got the biggest opening in 2016. In addition, the movie has accelerated the earnings of films at the box office after a slow start in the first six months of 2016. The movie has joined the 100 crore club, becoming the third movie to do so after Airlift and Housefull 3 in 2016.
Sultan has also broken the records for the first three day collections of Salman's previous two films. Sultan stands at top after grossing over Rs 105 crore in three days. Meanwhile, the collections from Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo stood at Rs 102.6 crores and Rs 101.47 crore, respectively, in three day period after release.
Salman Khan was so impressed after receiving so much recognition from audience for his film that he used his twitter account to thank his fans. Salman tweeted, “Thx for appreciating sultan . Wld u want to watch my performance on #iifa tonite. sm thing like this”.
Salman has 10 films in Rs 100 crores club, making him the actor having maximum films in this category. While Shah Rukh Khan as just six films, followed by five films each of Ajay Devgan and Akshay Kumar. Amir Khan and Hrithik Roshan have four and three films respectively in Rs 100 crore club.
The movie has an impressive story-line – Rewari lad Sultan (Salman) falls in love with wrestling champion Aarfa (Anushka), he starts wrestling to win Aarfa’s heart – but when Sultan wins the Olympics, he loses his head and in his arrogance, loses Aarfa and more. The only way Sultan can win Aarfa – and his own identity and many years and multiple kilos later, he faces a much deadlier fight. He competes in entrepreneur Akash Oberoi’s (Amit) Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) tournament. Slightly this movie resembles the popular 33-year-old Olympic medal winner Sushil Kumar. The story might resemble him at professional level, but the real life has nothing to go with it. Anushka Sharma essayed the female lead in the movie quite well and Aditya Chopra produced Sultan on Yash Raj Films banner.
The movie has been declared as a massive HIT all over, no wonder Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan is on cloud nine! BTW - his thanking his fans, is an excellent gesture from the superstar.
