The Indian National football team goalkeeper, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu is currently playing as a goalkeeper for Norwegian club Stabaek and is also a regular member of Indian squad. He recently became the first Indian football player to play in the Union of European Football Association (UEFA) Europa League.
The Indian football player, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu achieved this feat after; he was named in Norwegian club Stabaek FC’s squad for qualifying match against Connah’s Quay Nomads FC in Europa League. The UEFA Cup, also known as the Coupe UEFA, is the trophy awarded annually by UEFA to the football club that wins the UEFA Europa League.
Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, who hails from Mohali, in Punjab plays as a goalkeeper for Norwegian Tippeligaen football club Stabaek and also represents Indian national team. He is the fifth Indian football player to play in Europe at professional level after Mohammed Salim, Baichung Bhutia, Sunil Chhetri and Subrata Pal. His first match in Europa League was against Welsh football team, Connah’s Quay, in Wales.
In the Indian national team he made his debut for the U19s in the 2010 against the Iraq U19s in the AFC U-19 Championship. He made his debut in international career in 2011, while playing AFC Asian cup.
