Thithi is a drama film, with a light-hearted story about the three generations, played by non-professional actors from villages in the Mandya district, Karnataka. The Kannada movie has won two awards at the 19th Shanghai International Film Festival.

Kannada Movie Thithi has won two awards - Best Film and Best Script Writers- under the Asia New Talent Awards Category at the 19th Shanghai International Film Festival, China held during the Third week of June 2016.

This dramatic comedy film is co-written and directed by Raam Reddy. The film is an Indian-American co-production, jointly produced by Pratap Reddy from the Prspctvs Productions and Sunmin Park from Maxmedia. The movie is about how three generations of sons react to the death of the oldest man in their clan, named Century Gowda who is a locally renowned, highly cantankerous 101-year-old man. Set in a remote village in Karnataka, the three storylines intertwine before converging at Century Gowda’s ‘thithi’ — the final funeral celebration, which falls 11 days after a death.

This movie was played by non-professional actors from villages in the Mandya district of Karnataka. This film was premiered at the 68th Locarno International Film Festival.

The film has won numerous other awards at national and international film festivals including the 63rd National Film Awards, 2016 Karnataka State Film Awards, Golden Leopard honour in the Filmmakers of the Present category, the Swatch First Feature award at the 68th Locarno International Film Festival, and was also selected to the 45th edition of New Directors/New Films in New York, the US.
