An Indian-American federal Judge is among the 11 appointees as full-time judges.

Vince Chhabria, Indian-American federal judge, along with 10 others have been appointed by US President Barack Obama as full-time judges.

There was a total of 14 vacancies, out of which 11 were filed for the northern district of California and is remarked as the most dramatic makeover in Barack Obama's administration.

These 11 appointees had to go through Senate confirmation hearings.

Vince Chhabria, 46, was nominated by Obama to serve as a US district judge of the US district court for the northern district of California.

Chhabria was born in 1969 in San Francisco, California. In 1991, he completed his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He further received a Juris-Doctorate, a professional doctorate and first professional graduate degree in law from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1998.

He served in the San Francisco city attorney's office as deputy city Attorney for Government Litigation and as the Co-Chief of Appellate Litigation from 2005 to 2013.
