A worldwide manhunt has been launched for pedophile Vijesh Kooriyil, 29, who was found guilty of repeatedly raping a child age 6, in the UK. He has reportedly fled to India after he was found guilty of raping and has been charged with repeatedly raping the boy in Oxford between 2010 and 2011.
Kooriyil who hails from Kerala, is a business manager, has himself went to the UK from India as a student and lived in Oxford. He was sentenced in absentia to an extended prison term of 18 years.
He was charged with repeatedly raping the boy after trapping him in his bedroom, after he gained the child’s trust by often calling the boy out to play with him. "Vijesh Kooriyil deployed the all too familiar ways of gaining a child's trust. He would often call the boy to come and play with him. Some of those games were innocent enough, but others took place in the defendant's bedroom," Judge Peter Ross said during sentencing. The prosecutor David Smith told the court that the crimes only came to light after the boy started learning about sex at school and realised what had happened to him. He started feeling ashamed and angry and confused.
Presently, a manhunt is underway for the rapist from Eastbourne in Easts Sussex county of England. The UK police is closely working with other authorities to bring Kooriyil back to the UK to face justice.
