Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal wins Australian Open Super Series women's title and became the first shuttler to win the coveted title for a second time.

Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal, 26, dished out a magnificent show against the Chinese Sun Yu, defeating her 11-21, 21-14, 21-19 in a 72-minute thriller and winning the Australian Open Super Series women's title on Sunday (12th June) at the Sydney Sports Centre.

The London Olympics bronze winner from India had earlier beaten two world champions -- Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon (2013) and China’s Yihan Wang (2011) -- in the quarterfinals and semifinals, thus clinching her maiden title of the season and pocketing a cheque of $56,250.

This is also her second Australian Open win, as she becomes the first international shuttler to win the Australian Open for a second time and with this, the World No. 8 has also managed to claim her maiden title this season.
