An animated movie to woo the younger generation is here, as it is the summer holidays time in India. Post eight years of launching the game, here comes the movie. For a fact, anyone who has played the game at some point of its life must have loved the Angry Birds.
Rovio Entertainment has seen its $73 million 3D animated comedy; The Angry Birds Movie soars at the box office with over $222.5 million worldwide since its release during May, 2016.
Writer Jon Vitt has created a ‘Bird Island’ — the universe that these birds stay in. The movie takes place on Bird Island, an untouched paradise inhabited by birds that are naive and innocent. The island thrives in harmony with everyone knowing its job.
In the movie, there is a character known as Red (voiced by Jason Sudeikis) who faces anger issues and is usually irritated with the situations around. Flightless birds lead a mostly happy existence, except for Red. He is grouchy and bad temper increases when Pig’s arrive from Pig Island to settle among Birds. True to his nature Red is not happy with the sudden ambush of pigs and starts to spy around with his pals Chuck (Josh Gad) and Bomb (Danny McBride) which leads them to a conspiracy and a war between the species.
The younger generation will love the color palette and their mobile game coming live on screen in the war sequence where the birds are slinged to destroy the pig camp. The plain gags and eye rolling puns will keep the adults engrossed in the movie as well.
And if nothing else entertains you there’s the hilarious supporting cast including Bill Hader as the amusingly villainous King Mudbeard, Peter Dinklage as a once mighty and currently loser eagle, Key from Key and Peele as woodpecker Judge Peckinpah.
The plot of the movie is predictable with no surprises thrown, so if one is looking for some light hearted fun and smile on your kids’ faces then the movie is a must go. One will come out feeling lighter and with a smile out of the theaters, certainly the younger ones!
