An NRI physician, Samirkumar Shah, 53, has been indicted on charges of healthcare fraud in the US.
A resident of Armstrong County, the accused allegedly executed a scheme to defraud healthcare benefit programmes such as Medicare and Medicaid in connection with the delivery of and payment for healthcare benefits, and services. A federal grand jury recently indicted the accused physician on two counts of healthcare fraud. The indictment was returned against him in the Pittsburgh court, according to documents.
He could be sentenced for a maximum 10 years in prison and fined $250,000 if found guilty.
