An Indian-origin, 34-year-old Malayalee woman was allegedly murdered by her husband in Germany, and was found buried in the farm in their backyard. Her husband Rene Verhoeven, 33, has been arrested by the police in connection with the murder. The murder took place in Homberg, near the Central German city of Duisburg.
The incident came to light after Janett’s missing began to appear on social media on April 13, her husband lodged a missing complaint with the police on May 3, claiming that Janett had left home all by herself.
The police found out that her friends and relatives had been trying to locate her through social media weeks before her husband claimed she left home, and grew suspicious of his movements. The police eventually took him into custody, where he later pleaded guilty. To ensure the body is not discovered, the accused allegedly buried the victim’s body in the backyard.
Janett and Verhoeven were childhood friends who got married a few years back in Angamaly and have an 8-month-old daughter Alice.
Other details about the case are awaited and the cause of death will only be known after the autopsy report is received.
