As per the TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) figures the number of internet users in India is 332 million, however the service providers estimate that the number is well over 400 million and by 2017, India is expected to have about 500 million users. “Service providers are telling me the up-to-date figure would be 402 million. We were to have 500 million users by 2017; I feel it will happen this year itself,” said Mr Prasad.
