Pranav Pandya, the head of All World Gayatri Pariwar (AWGP), who was recently nominated to Rajya Sabha (RS) by the Indian government, has spurned the honour saying atmosphere in the Upper House may not be conducive for him.
"I have watched the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha in last two days. The way they were abusing each other, I don't think I will be able to change them. Rather I will devote my time outside Rajya Sabha where I can impact on the life of millions of people for their betterment," he commented sadly and also adding, that there are still multiple ways serving the humanity than getting nominated to the Upper House.
Pandya, was the seventh person to be nominated by the Indian government, he has reportedly informed the Secretary General of Rajya Sabha as well as the Home Ministry about his decision through an e-mail. Importantly, On April 22nd, the Indian government had nominated prominent personalities such as Subramanian Swamy, Navjot Singh Sidhu, International female Boxer Mary Kom Malayalam actor Suresh Gopi, economist Narendra Jadhav and journalist Swapan Dasgupta as the new Rajya Sabha members.
The Mumbai-born, 65-year-old Pandya is Director and head of the AWGP, which is claimed to be a modern adoption of the age-old wisdom of the ‘Vedic Rishis’ who practiced and propagated the philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ with its headquarters in Haridwar, Uttar Pradesh.
